From October 15-19, 2017, the College of Management of Mahidol University (CMMU) organized a study visit to Munich, Germany as part of a course on “International Business”. 19 students had the valuable opportunity to talk to senior executives from leading companies including BMW, Goldhofer, and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Munich. The students also joined a seminar on “Strategic Management” at the Faculty of Business, Technical University Munich, where they worked on a case study with German students. A special workshop on “cross-cultural aspects of German culture” introduced the students to the various cultural differences between Thailand and Germany. In order to complete their course, students had to reflect on their learning experiences in Germany and assess how they could transfer the knowledge they had gained to the context of Thai Business and Management. The trip was generously supported by the German Embassy Bangkok with a visa fee waiver for all participants and by BMW Thailand who sponsored the visit to the BMW plant Munich.
